The first Italian truck was built at the start of the 20th century: it was a simple vehicle equipped with a basic disc engine. Since then, more than a century has passed and the technical and stylistic evolution of these vehicles has been among the most significant in the transport sector. This book recounts decades and decades of truck history through over 300 pictures, paying particular attention to stylistic progress, while the technical part is treated by means of synthetic specifications. A long overview of the first examples derived from the car during the diesel era, with fascinating noses right up to the cab-over, which meant the truck, no longer conditioned by the shape of the car, became the protagonist of a new aesthetic challenge passing from essential lines to the significant examples of the best Italian design of the early 60s. Year after year, the marques and the models are presented in order to relive the various eras and historic periods that have distinguished the development of auto-transport, but also the living conditions of the truck drivers: from simple cabs worthy of the 50s to those of today, comfortable and technological.
